We will explore volunteer motivations; what inspires people to get involved and how to engage individuals who have different reasons for volunteering. You’ll learn effective strategies to attract more volunteers to your group, expanding your reach and increasing participation. We’ll also focus on how to connect with new people and communities, ensuring your group thrives with fresh energy and perspectives. Plus, discover how to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where every volunteer feels valued and ready to contribute.

The aims of this course are:

  • Reflect on and consider research into the volunteer experience and volunteer motivations.
  • Understand how to design meaningful volunteer roles and tasks within your group.
  • Understand how to attract and recruit volunteers to your community sponsorship group.
  • Explore how to welcome volunteers to your group.

The course was developed with Laura Hamilton, a skilled and experienced volunteer manager, facilitator and trainer.
