Home » August’s update on eVisas
We’ve a new update to the info on eVisas. If you’re a Biometric Residency Permit holders (BRP), you no longer need an invitation to create a UKVI account and access your eVisa. You can now create an account directly and then apply to link your eVisa.
If you already have a UKVI account – you can go ahead to apply to link your eVisa to this account.
UKVI has produced a video explaining the process.
BRPs will continue to be valid, however, the eVisa is now also a valid status document. Creating a UKVI account or linking an eVisa to an existing account will allow eVisa holders to view your eVisa and demonstrate your status and rights with the eVisa and share codes.
Please remember, from October 31st 2024, BRPs will no longer be issued. Currently a BRP or identity document (passport) is required to create a UKVI account. From October 31st 2024 that requirement will be removed, so that even if you don’t have the required documentation, you can still sign up for a UKVI account and access an eVisa.
UKVI is setting up regional in-person support in the coming months for accessing eVisas. For now it is recommended that all BRP holders should follow the UKVI instructions to access their eVisas. More information can be found here.
